Nidjalla Waangan Mia held a NAIDOC brunch inviting community members and service providers we partner with throughout the year to come in and share some food and meet the NWM Team. Peel Health Campus, AVIVO, GP down south staff and community members came along to celebrate and support the NAIDOC brunch.
This years theme celebrated the essential role that women have played - and continue to play - as active and significant role models at the community, local, state and national levels. GP down south had the pleasure of inviting a few women to a celebratory lunch for this year's NAIDOC theme - "Because Of Her We Can".
As a result of generous funding from ALCOA, GP down south has been providing the services of a Case Manager at Peel Youth Medical Service (PYMS) since 2016.
As the Case Manager, Joseph Gauci has been providing young people with support to access a range of community, clinical and social networks in an effective, efficient and timely manner.
Unfortunately, the funding for the Case Manager position ceased on the 30 June 2018 and we have not been successful in finding alternative funding. As a result, GP down south is no longer able to continue to provide this service.
Since 2012 in partnership with Peel Health Foundation and State Health, and then through funding from the Shire of Waroona, the Peel Mobile Health Service (PMHS) has been providing health and wellbeing services in the regions of Waroona, Pinjarra and Mandurah. In partnership with local services, the PMHS has supported in the delivery of mental health services, diabetes and dietetic services, alcohol and other drugs services as well as family support.
AGPAL recently announced the national winners for the 2018 AGPAL and QIP excellence awards at their conference gala dinner held at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne.
Nidjalla Waangan Mia Aboriginal Medical Service were runners up in the 'Aboriginal Medical Service of the Year'
CEO, Amanda Poller and CFO, Sue Swift were presented with the $20, 000 cheque from the Chef's Long Table Lunch. GP down south were benefiiaries of the 2018 fundraiser held in February.
The annual event attracts 500 guests for an 8 course degustation meal with beer, wine and soft drink flowing all afternoon. The event is run by an entirely voluntary committee and over 80% of food and inftrastructure is sponsored or donated.
The 2018 Youth Appeal is coming your way again in June. Building on the success of 2016, this year will be bigger and better.
Funds raised go towords supporting the Peel Youth Medical Service and the Peel Healthy Breakfast Club. We need your help to help us support our youth and save lives.

GP down south have established an Assertive Outreach Team (AOT), covering Mandurah, Pinjarra and Waroona.
The team comprises 2 Care Coordinators and an Aboriginal Youth Worker. The AOT will engage and support individuals experiencing alcohol or drug problems and / or mental health problems in these locations.
