$1.87 Million Grant from Lotterywest for PYMS Health Hub

GP down south and PYMS are delighted to recieve a Lotterywest Grant of 1.87 million to help fund the construction of the Health Hub which is the first of its kind in Australia.  The  Health Hub will include Headspace and various organisations to provide a one stop treatment facility to the Peel youth. GPds to Present at the WA Rural and Remote Mental Health Conference

We are excited to announce that GP down south has been chosen to deliver an oral presentation at the WA Rural and Remote Mental Health conference, ‘A Stepped Care Approach to the Provision of Primary Mental Health Services’. Nicola Hilyard, Jackie Bowser along with Jasmin Brown from WA Primary Health Alliance will present at the Rural and Remote Mental Health Conference in Broome on 25th October.

Health Hub Ahead

July 2017 - GP down south are grateful to announce the generous donation of $250,000 to assist in the development of the PYMS Health Hub. $1.25M in community donations were raised throughout the Peel region and presented to the Peel Health Foundation (PHF). The PHF has divided the donations between GP down south for the development of a Mandurah health hub for youth with mental health issues, Curtin University to help fund student scholarships and a new, state-of-the-art clinical school. GP down south wish to thank the PHF and the Peel community for their substantial donation.

Denise Puddick attended Parliament last week to hear the announcement that the State Government will continue to fund the Peel Mobile Health Service for another 12 Months

After the State Government announced the Peel Mobile Health Service (PMHS) funding would cease from the 30th June 2017, the Shire of Waroona, stakeholders, community members and GP down south rallied together to voice their opposition of the decision.  The PMHS provides health services to community members in the Peel Region who would otherwise not be able access these services.

headspace for Mandurah & Peel

Federal Health Minister the Hon Greg Hunt and Canning MP Andrew Hastie have announced an investment of $3million for a new headspace facility in Mandurah.  The Federal government has selected the PYMS Health Hub as one of only ten locations nationwide for a new headspace.  GP down south, in particular Business Development Manager - Eleanor Britton, has worked tirelessly over the preceding months securing over 3400 signed petitions from the local community supporting the need for a headspace in Peel.  Please click for video coverage
