headspace for Mandurah & Peel

Federal Health Minister the Hon Greg Hunt and Canning MP Andrew Hastie have announced an investment of $3million for a new headspace facility in Mandurah.  The Federal government has selected the PYMS Health Hub as one of only ten locations nationwide for a new headspace.  GP down south, in particular Business Development Manager - Eleanor Britton, has worked tirelessly over the preceding months securing over 3400 signed petitions from the local community supporting the need for a headspace in Peel.  Please click for video coverage

PYMS Health Hub Becomes Reality

February 2017

The Peel Youth Medical Service (PYMS) Health Hub has now become a reality with both state Liberal and Labor parties committing a further $4.9 million to complete construction.  This bi-partisan project enjoys support from the local community as well as all 3 levels of government. 

Black Dog Ride Around The Fire Update

December 2016

In January this year, the WA communities of Preston Beach, Waroona, Yarloop and Harvey were tragically affected by devastating fires. In partnership with GP down south, on Sunday 27th November, Black Dog Ride gathered at Preston Beach and road around the fire zones of Yarloop, Harvey and Waroona and met with the locals to raise awareness of the mental health support agencies that are available to them.

PYMS Health Hub Update

The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, the Minister for Health Sussan Ley and the Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ken Wyatt visited PYMS to confirm their election pledge of $2million for the PYMS Health Hub and also announced us as one of 12 national suicide prevention trial sites. G P down south Mental Health Service

Introducing GP down south’s new Mental Health Service in the Greater Bunbury, South West, Warren Blackwood and Great Southern Regions of Western Australia. 

GP down south in collaboration with WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) are commencing an innovative nine month pilot model for the delivery of primary mental health services commencing Monday 25th of July 2016.
